Restaurants cluster around Washington Avenue, West Madison Avenue, Veterans Plaza, West Shore Avenue and neighborhood corners (NJTGO Dumont food and drink). Bagel shops, pizzerias, sushi, barbecue, burritos and family restaurants all need staff who are easy to spot.

Opening a new shop

For a new business, staff shirts and the first sign usually get ordered in the same week. Our grand opening banner template starts at $54.00 for a 3x6, and grand opening window vinyl is in the vinyl designer. Signs have a $35.00 order minimum. Every Bergen town sets its own rules for temporary banners, so check with the Dumont zoning office before hanging anything outside.

A bagel café that opened in a former drive-thru on Washington Avenue this summer is a good example: new signs went up months before opening day (Explore New Jersey). The same timing works for shirts. Order them when the sign goes up, not the week you open.

Ordering from Dumont

Design in our online designer and approve your own mockup before paying the deposit. Printed items take 7 to 10 business days, or 5 with rush for 25% more, and embroidery takes 10 to 15. Orders under 6 pieces add a $12.00 small-batch fee. Pickup is contactless in Paramus, about 6 miles away, on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 11am to 3pm. What should I order first when opening a shop?

Usually a banner or window graphic to announce the opening, then staff shirts two to three weeks before the first day. Printed shirts take 7 to 10 business days after the deposit.

Is there a minimum order?

No minimum piece count. Prices drop at 6, 12, 24 and 48 pieces, and orders under 6 pieces add a $12.00 small-batch fee.

Do I pay sales tax on staff shirts?

No. Clothing is exempt from New Jersey sales tax. Signs and vinyl decals are taxed at 6.625%.
