Graduation signs have become a spring tradition all over Bergen County. A team or a PTO orders one for every senior or eighth grader, parents put them on the lawn in late May, and the whole block knows who is graduating. The same signs work for birthday drive-bys, retirement parties, fundraisers, block parties and grand openings. Our main yard sign guide covers sizes, materials and town rules in detail. This post focuses on celebration and event signs.
Pick a size
| Size | Best for | Price for 1 (1-sided) | What is included |
|---|---|---|---|
| 18 x 24 in yard sign | Graduation, birthdays, "proud parent" signs | $24.00 | One H-stake |
| 24 x 36 in yard sign | Corner lots, busy roads, grand openings | $34.50 | Two stakes |
| 6 x 24 in rider | Add-on strip with a name, date or "Class of 2027" | $18.00 | Fits a sign frame or fence |
| 2 x 4 ft banner | Porch railings, garage doors, party tents | $30.50 | Hems and grommets |
| 3 x 6 ft banner | Fences, school events, team celebrations | $50.50 | Hems, grommets every 2 ft |
Prices are as of November 2026 from our sign designer. If you are hanging a sign on a fence instead of staking it, you can choose grommets instead of stakes at no charge.
Ordering for a whole class or team
This is where yard signs get affordable. The 18 x 24 single-sided price drops quickly:
| Quantity | 1-sided each | 2-sided each |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $24.00 | $26.00 |
| 5 | $14.00 | $16.00 |
| 10 | $12.50 | $14.50 |
| 25 | $11.50 | $14.00 |
| 50 | $11.50 | Ask us |
| 100 | $10.50 | Ask us |
So 25 single-sided signs for a senior class are $287.50 before tax. Signs are taxable in New Jersey at 6.625%, which adds $19.05, for $306.55 total, or about $12.26 a sign. A PTO or booster club can often cover that with a small fee per family.
If every sign has a different name or photo, send us the list through the quote form before you order, and we will price the set and confirm how to send the names and photos.
Photo sign or text sign?
- Photo signs are personal and get the most reactions. Use the largest, sharpest photo you have, ideally straight from a phone camera, not a screenshot. Faces should fill a good part of the frame.
- Text signs in school colors are easier for a whole class and look great as a set on every lawn. Keep it to three lines: "Congrats," the name, and the school and year.
- Read the sign from the street. Letters under about 3 inches tall disappear from a passing car. Fewer words, bigger type.
Before you use a school logo or mascot, ask the school or district for permission. Most are happy to say yes, but it is their mark. Our artwork guide explains what files print best.
When to order
Most Bergen County high school graduations are held in June, and many families put signs out a few weeks before. Check your school's calendar, then work back:
- Six weeks out: decide on the design and collect names (and photos, if you are doing photo signs).
- Three weeks out: place the order and approve the proof.
- Ready in 5 to 7 business days after the deposit and proof approval, or 3 business days with rush.
- Distribute at a practice, a parent meeting or a school pickup.
The same timing works for any event: a birthday drive-by, a retirement party or a fundraiser. Order signs about two weeks ahead and you will have room for a proof change.
Event signs beyond graduation
- Grand openings: a 24 x 36 yard sign at the road plus a 3 x 6 banner on the building. Check your town's rules on temporary business signs first; our storefront guide covers Paramus.
- Fundraisers and car washes: big arrows and one word ("WASH," "SALE") read faster than a paragraph.
- Team "home of" signs: a sign with the player's name and number for every lawn, ordered with the team.
- Parties: pair a sign with matching shirts. Our event shirt guide has ideas.
Displaying and saving them
Corrugated plastic signs handle rain fine. Push the H-stake in by hand, not with a hammer, and pull it out after the event. Many families keep the graduation sign; it stores flat behind a closet door and is a nice keepsake. Remember that many towns limit how long temporary signs can stay up, so bring them in after the celebration.
Pickup or shipping
Pickup is contactless at our front door in Paramus (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, 11 to 3). Signs can also ship: $14.99 for up to 2, $24.99 for up to 10.
A simple plan for coordinators
If you are the parent or booster club volunteer handling signs for a whole team or class, this keeps it simple:
- Pick one design and one size for everyone so the set looks uniform on every lawn.
- Make a shared sheet with each student's name exactly as it should print.
- Decide whether families pay you or the club covers it, and collect before you order.
- Order one or two spares for late additions or a sign that gets damaged.
- Plan a single pickup and hand-out day so signs go out together.
A quick design checklist
- Three lines of text or fewer, with the name the biggest.
- High contrast: dark text on a light background, or white on a dark school color.
- Double-check the spelling of every name and the graduation year.
- Leave an inch of empty space around the edges so nothing important sits near the stake pocket.
- For photo signs, use a sharp photo with good light on the face.
- Look at the proof on your phone at arm's length. If it is hard to read there, it is hard to read from the street.
