We already have a post full of bachelorette and birthday shirt ideas. This one is the practical side: how to plan a full set of matching shirts for a weekend, keep the bride (or birthday person) looking different from the group, and get everyone's size and money in without a dozen reminder texts. It works the same for a 30th in Atlantic City, a 40th at the shore or a bachelorette in Nashville.
Plan the weekend, then the shirts
The best-looking group photos come from planning one look per main event, not one shirt for the whole trip. A simple plan for a two- or three-day weekend:
| Moment | Group piece | Bride or guest of honor |
|---|---|---|
| Arrival or welcome night | Matching tee in one color | Same tee in white or a contrast color |
| Day party, pool or beach | Tanks | White tank with a different print |
| Morning after | Sweatpants or a crewneck | Matching set with her name |
| Everything else | Hats | A different hat color |
You do not have to do all four. Most groups pick two: a tee or tank for the main event and something cozy for the morning after.
Pieces that work well for groups
These are popular picks in our online designer, priced as of November 2026 for one front print.
| Piece | Why groups like it | 1 | 6 each | 12 each |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Comfort Colors 3023CL women's boxy tee | Relaxed, cropped-looking fit, washed colors | $31.50 | $31.00 | $30.50 |
| Bella+Canvas 6400 women's relaxed tee | Soft, flattering, lots of colors | $31.00 | $30.50 | $29.50 |
| Bella+Canvas 3480 tank | Light, good for pool and beach days | $31.50 | $31.00 | $30.00 |
| Comfort Colors 9360 tank | Garment-dyed, vintage look | $31.00 | $30.50 | $30.00 |
| Gildan 18000 crewneck | Cozy morning-after layer | $34.00 | $33.50 | $32.50 |
| Gildan 18200 sweatpants | Pairs with the crewneck as a set | $35.00 | $34.50 | $34.00 |
Prices above are for colored garments. White is often cheaper: a white Bella+Canvas 3480 tank is $24.50 for one, which makes white an easy, budget-friendly way to set the bride apart. Comfort Colors is the exception, where white costs a little more than colors. Embroidered hats start at 6 pieces; a Yupoong classic dad hat is $28.50 each for 6 and $20.50 each for 12.
Clothing is exempt from New Jersey sales tax, per the NJ Division of Taxation, so the price you see is the price, plus shipping if you need it.
Make the bride stand out
- Same design, different color. The whole group in pink, the bride in white.
- Different word, same layout. "Bride" on one shirt, "Crew," "Squad" or the trip name on the rest.
- Names on the back. Everyone gets their name or a nickname. The bride gets "Mrs." and her new last name.
- One special piece. If budgets are tight, buy matching tees for everyone and one extra item, like a crewneck, for the bride.
Because every DTF transfer is printed individually, personalized backs do not add setup costs. You pay for the back print location, and each name can be different.
Collecting sizes and money without the chaos
- Send one message with a picture of the design, the price per person and a deadline. Include the size chart link from the product page.
- Use a shared sheet with columns for name as it should print, shirt size, pants size if you are doing sets, and paid yes or no.
- Collect money first. The deposit is 50% of the order, paid online, so you are not floating the whole thing.
- Double-check spelling of every name. A misspelled nickname on a back print is a reprint.
- Order one spare in a common size for the friend who decides last minute.
A week-by-week timeline
- Five weeks out: pick the pieces and colors, and make the design. Our designer lets you approve your own mockup.
- Four weeks out: send the group message and collect sizes and money.
- Three weeks out: place the order, approve the mockup and pay the deposit. Printed apparel takes 7 to 10 business days from here.
- One week out: pick up contactless at our front door in Paramus, or have it shipped ($9.99 for up to 12 pieces).
- Trip: pack the shirts in your bag, not the bride's, so the reveal is still a surprise.
Running late? Rush is 5 business days for 25% more. Our fast custom shirts guide explains what is realistic on a short timeline.
Design tips for groups
- Keep the front simple: a short phrase plus the date or city. Busy designs read badly in photos.
- Check that the colors look good together in a group photo. Two or three shirt colors at most.
- Avoid using a celebrity's photo, a team logo or song lyrics. Original designs only.
- Washed Comfort Colors shades look great in daylight photos. Our garment-dyed guide explains why each one looks a little different.
Splitting the cost fairly
Money is where group orders get awkward, so decide this before you send the first message:
- Everyone pays for their own piece, and the group splits the bride's items.
- Price the per-person cost after quantity breaks. A group of 12 pays less per shirt than a group of 5, so wait until you know the headcount.
- Include shipping if it applies, so nobody is surprised.
- Set one payment app and one deadline. Order only for the people who have paid.
Milestone birthdays work the same way
Everything here applies to a 30th, 40th or 50th birthday trip too. Swap "Bride" for the guest of honor's name and age, put the year or the destination on the group shirts, and give the birthday person the one shirt in a different color. For family birthday parties with kids, add youth and toddler sizes to the same order; youth and toddler tees are in the designer alongside the adult styles.
